Beggers Night

October 25, 2019

We had a great turn out for Beggar’s Night yesterday. The trick-or-treaters loved seeing so many teachers! Thank you to everyone that came out to pass candy and greet families. We also appreciated all of the candy donations. Leftovers will be given to to the Treats for Troops collection.

Students of the Month

Bank of Castile has graciously sponsored the award for October.  This month students are being honored with this article, a Certificate of Achievement from the Medina Teachers’ Association presented by President Joseph Byrne and Medina

CSD Superintendent, Mark Kruzynski, presented a special pen and pencil.  In addition, Bank of Castile representative Patrick Weissend presented each of this month’s winners with a Halloween basket full of goodies.

Nominated by Courtney Diebel of Oak Orchard was first-grader Sophia Buzard.  Mrs. Diebel shared that Sophia works very hard. She comes in every morning ready to learn with a smile on her face and often helps out her friends in a very appropriate way when they need help. She never interrupts but participates in discussions and activities. She is a lovely young lady and a pleasure to have in class!

From Wise Middle School  Lindsay Fassel nominated one of her fourth grade students, Gabe Gomez Buzard. When Mrs. Fassel indicated her reasons for nominating Gabe, she shared that she was absolutely blown away by Gabe's interaction with an older peer who was in distress.  The student was in the hallway, crying and unable to move to a more secluded location. Gabe came upon the student and sat quietly with him on the floor, in the crevice of a doorway.  Gabe was respectful and encouraging; suggesting things his peer could do in the counseling office, rather than the hallway, that might help him calm down and/or feel better. Gabe was a tremendous leader; emphatic, gentle and supportive.  He was able to get the student to move to a quieter/safer space and eventually on with his day. I am so very proud of Gabe and his ability to genuinely connect with others. Awesome work bud!

From the High School, Carter Green, a junior, was nominated by Doug Benedict.  Mr. Benedict reports that Carter witnessed one of his classmates having a medical condition.  Carter made sure I knew of it and offered to do what he could to be sure his friend received the care he needed.
